Richard Allen Harris

Richard Allen Harris (Luckey) 80, of Pemberton, New Jersey passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family. Richard was generous, humorous, and a stern man. His heritage to his children was not words or possessions but an unspoken treasure, the treasure of his example as a man and father. He was loved and respected not only by this family but by his many friends. He was born December 14, 1940 in Wheeling (Triadelphia), WV the son of the late Florence Harris (Luckey) as well as Reuben, Sr. and Ethel Stradwick, who he regarded as dad and mom. Richard served 30 years in the US Army and retired as Command Sergeant Major. He was a decorated Army Veteran of Vietnam. After retirement, he worked for 15 years in the Department of Corrections at Garden State Youth Correction. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Ada and Kathleen; brothers; Herman, Andrew, Bobby, Yuself (Charles), and Eddie Harris (Luckey): brother-in-laws; Dave, Sr. (Ruth), Johnnie, Thomas, Alfred and Reuben Stradwick.

 

He's survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Lenore (Peachie) Stradwick Harris; their children Dave Sr. (Debbie) of Wilmington, DE and Jacqueline Washington (Darrell Sr.) of Atlanta GA. Surviving are grandchildren: Noella Battista of Wilmington DE. Richard (Mirelle), Rashad (Patricia), Dave Jr. (Gabrielle) all of Tampa, FL and Darrell Washington, Jr of Atlanta, GA; great- grandchildren: Arla, De'Aundre, Adrianna, Aaliyah, Jayla, Ari, Rashad Jr, Audrey, Skyler; sister-in-laws: Connie Grim, Indianapolis,IN, Linda Scott, Brenda Sparksman, Darlene Stradwick, of Wheeling, WV, Vivian, Buffalo, NY; brother-in-laws: Frederick (Darlene) Stradwick, Cornell (Yvonne) Stradwick of Wheeling, WV. Anthony, Sr. (Christina) Stradwick Huntington, WV

and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

 

Family and Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Lakehurst Road, Browns Mills, NJ Viewing 11:00 am - 12:00pm. Funeral 12:00pm - 2:00pm.
