I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. Timothy 4:7

Stephanie peacefully took her rest and gained her wings on  Feb. 6, 2021.

Stephanie was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky on October 18, 1967 to Jeremiah and Betty Carter.   When she was born her nickname became “Smiley” because of her constant smile.  She was an Army brat, born the 4th child of five girls. Stephanie received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn.  Stephanie graduated from Reid Ross High School in 1985 and shortly thereafter,  relocated to New Jersey with her family.  While there she attended Burlington County College and earned a certificate in Office Automation.  New Jersey is where she raised her two beautiful daughters, Latisha and Latosha. Stephanie was very proud of her children and made sure both children earned college degrees.

Stephanie was employed with National DCP  as an equipment specialist up until her death. She enjoyed working there as this is where she made friends for a lifetime. Her favorite past time was traveling, and cooking. Oh, how she loved traveling with her sisters but …..her greatest love of all was her children and grandchildren.

We all loved Stephanie, but God loved her best.  After years of smiles, laughter,  and sharing her love, our beloved Stephanie accepted her wings and went to join our heavenly father in paradise.

Stephanie leaves to cherish her memories, two devoted daughters, Latisha and Latosha Bourdeau, two grandsons, Latrell and Alexander Archer, parents CSM (retired)  Jeremiah and Betty Carter, four sisters, Freida Walker, Dr. Tamara Woods (Rev. Henry), Rochelle Carter (Clement), and Tonya Wells, a grandmother, Frances Carter, six aunts, Norma Lott (Andre), Dorothy Sneed (Willie), Virginia Chatham (Archie), Sharon Carter,  Emma Moore, and Susan Blue (Daniel), five uncles, Doug Ogburn (Debbie), Gene Carter (Constance), Clyde Neasman (Beverly), Bajor and Ronnie Wright, five great aunts, Birdie Hatcher, Virginia Austin (Willard), Othell Carr, Imogene Wright, and Judy Wright, two great uncles, Lonnie Floyd and Frank Hatcher, five nieces, Candice Walker (Jamal), Ashley Walker, Danielle Walker, Camille Wells, and Tyris Holt (Myles), two great nieces, five great nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.  Stephanie is preceded in death by two grandmothers, Leola Ogburn,  and Zera Mae Wright, three grandfathers, William Ogburn,  Lott Carter, and Ed Wright, four aunts, Amelia Oxendine, Mary Ogburn, Mary Byrom, Ollie Williams (Clinton),  and two uncles, Lem (Marie) and Lonnie Wright.

Celebration of her Life will be held 11am Friday, February 12, 2021 at the St. Mark Baptist Church, 545 Lakehurst Road, Browns Mills, NJ.
