Ida Jones (Johnson)
Ida Jones (Johnson), age 84, formerly of Juliustown NJ, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1954 with honors and studied two years at Bucks County Community College. She received her associates degree in secretarial science. After her formal education, Ida worked for 30 years at US Steel Corporation in Fairless Hills Pennsylvania. She worked as a secretary to the chief chemist and retired in 1995.
For most of her adult life she was a faithful member of St. Paul UMC. While at St. Paul she served as an active member, church secretary, usher, and United Methodist Women’s group leader. Ida was also very active in the community. She spent many years delivering food for the Extended Hands Outreach Ministry. She also donated time and money to many charitable causes. Ida’s talents were many. She was an extremely accomplished baker, typist, and a former majorette in the Bristol High School Marching Band.
In 1968, she married the love of her life, Parker Jones. Ida and Parker were married for 53 wonderful years. During those many years of marriage they raised their devoted daughter Leslie, and fostered a friend’s child. They also took in several family members and friends in need. Even though Leslie was an only child, she describes the house as never empty and always filled with love. Everyone was welcome. Ida lived a life of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Ida enjoyed spending time with her family and hosted many family social events. Most notable was the 4th of July family reunion that she hosted every other year. Ida loved to travel and go out on adventures. She visited countries on almost every continent.
In her most recent years her hearts greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Parker Jones; daughters; Dawn Jones, Leslie Wong and her husband David; A special niece, Tina Godbold; 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on June 5, 2021 at St. Paul UMC, 240 Washington Street, Mt. Holly, NJ. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00AM followed by a service at 11:00AM. A lunch repass will be served following the funeral service in the church fellowship hall. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Paul UMC.
