John E. Rorie

John E. Rorie was born to George and Alma Rorie on January 22, 1940 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

John attended Berkeley Training School. Upon graduating John moved to New Jersey at the age of 17 and started a career in long distance truck driving. He enjoyed driving and seeing the states. Once he retired after 40 years of service John would go to work for Willis Bus Company until his death.

In 1988 John turned his life over to the Lord and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, New Jersey. John loved serving the Lord. Later John would become a member of the Male Chorus, Senior Choir and also served on the Usher Board. It was there he met his wife Clarice.

John was a loving man who enjoyed life. His love for motorcycles and gadgets were a big part of his life. He would often make surprise visits driving his motorcycle long distance to check on family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents George and Alma Rorie, his wife Clarice Rorie, his brother’s George and James Rorie and recently his sister Odessa Mahoney whom passed away one day before his death.

John is survived by two children Karen Defigueiredo and Joseph Nichols[Erica]. A stepson David Locker. Five grandchildren Brittany and Arturo[Jr] Defigueiredo Joseph Jr., Jordan and Jonathan Nichols. Two great grand kids. Two sister in law Delorise Harris and Retha Rorie. Bonus sister Vernell Woods.

Celebration of the life services will be held 6pm Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 150 E. Second Street, Burlington, NJ. Family and friends may view from 6pm until time of service. Interment: Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ. Professional service and ministry of comfort provided by the TL Hutton Family & Friends Funeral Services, Burlington, NJ. Service will be live streamed at 6pm at
