Rochelle D. Jackson

“My Life”

Rochelle Dorothy Jackson, lovingly known to many as “Shelly” & “Slimmy.” Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1957, where she was loving adopted by her mother, Selina L. Toole.

Rochelle attended Philadelphia Public School System until moving to Willingboro, NJ in 1969. When she moved to Willingboro, she attended Levitt Jr. High School and John F. Kennedy H.S. in Burlington County College where she received her G.E.D.

At the tender age of 4 years old Rochelle learned to cook small meals. Cooking became a passion she enjoyed for years to come. At age 14 she prepared her first Thanksgiving dinner, with pride. Her ill mother, Selina was so very proud. Selina went home to be with the Lord the very next day in November of 1971. Rochelle never forgot what she proudly learned from Selina, and she began to master many dishes, cooking for family & friends.

Becoming a mother, wife, working in many supervisor positions, and her dream of becoming a cook and opening her own catering business.

After many years of catering on the side, Rochelle completed a catering course in 2013 called Unusual Class Catering 101. That was a very special day.

Rochelle was always willing to help many family friends. You were always welcome to a hot meal, or if you just wanted to talk or have a place to visit to rest your head.

From 2005 to 2013, Rochelle dedicated her time once a year to Extraordinary Friends & Family. She started off with 75 guests, growing to over 300+/2 successful cabarets, and not once on the schedule did it rain. God’s blessing was upon us on those special days.

Raised in the church at an early age. However, Easter Sunday 1990 the Lord clearly spoke to her heart. Under the teaching of Apostle Eric T. Ricks her calling was helping others. Rochelle attended Evangelist and Mission Classes under Reverend Floyd where she later graduated that class. That was another proud moment in her life.

Rochelle was a true loving woman, many loved her to death, however; like a true “Gemini” don’t rub her the wrong way. She had no problem letting you know how she was feeling.

Rochelle loved her family, friends, children, grandchildren, and she loved her great- grand daughters who she lovingly referred to as “The Hen’s.”

The love of music, great cousins, and favorite T.V. shows. She had hard love for a few artists; Barry White, Gerald Lavert, Prince, Whitney Houston. Her number 1 favorite artist was Luther R. Vandross, who she attended many of his concerts and followed his whole career. After he passed, she had his name tattooed on her right arm, and she would show it with pride.

Preceded in death by her son’s Murphy R. Harris & Thomas Deputy, her loving brother-in-law Decon Anthony “Harry” Harris, and her sister-in-law Darlene Ball, Daughter; Temeka M. Toole,

Son; Marlin R. Harris, 7 grandchildren; Selina, Rochina, Anna Rochelle, Jaylen, Nasir, Lahnaja, Tyree, 5 Great-daughters; Niara (New New), Alaya (The Talker), Alyssa (Light skin), Isabella (#1), Isabella (Queen BB), Sister; and Best friend- Sheryl A Hicks (Jerome), Brother-in-law John Ball (Susan), Sister-in-law Gwen Harris-Rolls, and #1 childhood friend Carmella Reed.

Rochelle’s life was not measured in the years of her life, but rather in the number of lives and hearts she has touched.”
